The OSN3500 SSN3SL16A Optical Interface Board is a line board that can be used on OptiX OSN series devices to realize the reception and transmission of STM-16 optical signals. With this single board, the SL16A sends the received optical signals to the cross side after O/E conversion, while the electrical signals from the cross side are sent out after E/O conversion. After selecting the correct single board, the single board needs to be tuned and configured. Single-board tuning and configuration consists of four parts: single-board hardware checking, single-board configuration, single-board tuning and validation testing. The parameters of SSN3SL16A single-board can be configured through theU2000network management system.
SSN3SL16A Because the 1310-band optical signal is outside the cutoff wavelength of G.655 fiber optic cable, it causes the optical interface board to show B1_SD and B2_SD alarms when using G.655 fiber optic cable to transmit the 1310-band optical signals in some cases, and it is necessary to pay attention to avoiding such a situation when using it.
Phenomenon Description
After the customer replaced the fiber optic cable, the optical power was checked to be in line with the normal input range, but the B1_SD and B2_SD alarms were reported on the SL16 board. After cleaning all related optical ports, the alarms still do not disappear.
Cause Analysis
Since the alarm appears only after replacing the fiber optic cable, the cause of the optical interface board can be basically ruled out, and the fault is localized in the fiber optic cable.
Procedure
- Replace back to the original fiber optic cable, the optical power does not change much and the error code disappears.
- Check the optical interface board and cable type, found that the optical interface board is 1310 band, before cutting the use of G.652 fiber optic cable, and after cutting the use of G.655 fiber optic cable. G.652 fiber optic cable can transmit 1310 and 1550 band optical signals, while the G.655 fiber optic cable can only transmit 1550 band optical signals. 1310 band in the G.655 fiber optic cable cut-off wavelength outside the range, resulting in signal error code. The 1310 band is outside the cutoff wavelength of the G.655 fiber optic cable, resulting in signaling errors.
Reference Information
For the most part, G.655 fiber optic cables have no problem transmitting 1310 band optical signals. However, from the technical specifications, 1310 band optical signals do fall outside the cutoff wavelength of G.655 fiber optic cables and are not guaranteed to be transmitted properly, which is an insidious problem that needs to be avoided when using them.
