This task describes how to set up the OSN3500 SDH transport device to set up Ethernet single board VC-3 service loopback. A loopback operation reverses the down-plug AIS signal. In the unprotected state, loopback may cause service interruption or communication signal interruption. The loopback operation can only be used for fault localization, and the loopback setting for that port must be cleared after fault localization.

Procedure
- Double-click on the Main Topology icon in the Workbench view to access the main topology diagram.
- On the main topology map of the network management, select the network elements that need to be looped back.
- Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
- Select the Ethernet board that needs to be looped back, and select "Configuration > SDH Interface" in the Function Tree.
- Select "By Function" and set the loopback method to "VC3 Loopback".
- Select the VC3 that needs to be looped back and set the loopback method.
- Click "Apply" and confirm the popup dialog box.
- Optional: Undo Loopback. Set the loopback method to "No loopback".
Reference
You can set VC3 loopback only after the Ethernet board is configured with services. Different Ethernet boards support different VC3 loopback.
