OSN3500 SSN1AUX single board is the system auxiliary interface board, applied in the OptiX OSN system to provide various management interfaces and auxiliary interfaces. The SSN1AUX board provides various management interfaces and auxiliary interfaces for the system, and provides centralized backup of +3.3V power supply for each board in the sub-frame, and other functions and features. There is a jumper switch J9 at the bottom right of the board, which is used to set the subrack as the main subrack or expansion subrack. The veneer can be plugged into the slot 37 of the subrack. there is a LAN Switch communication module on the veneer, and the communication between the veneers is realized through the AUX veneer. When most of the veneers have communication failure alarms, the AUX veneer failure should be considered first.

OptiX OSN 1500
Failure Category
- COMMUN_FAIL
- BD_STATUS
Phenomenon Description
The OSN 1500 is configured with dual-crossover/master control boards Q2CXL16, N1SLQ1, N1SLQ4, interface boards D12B, PD1, power supply board PIU, and communication processor board AUX, and all single boards except D12B and Q2CXL16 report BD_STATUS and COMMUN_FAIL alarms.
Cause Analysis
Analyzing the alarm parameters collected from each board, 0x03 indicates that the Ethernet communication between boards is faulty, and it can be determined that the COMMUN_FAIL alarms of each board are caused by the Ethernet port. the AUX board also reports BD_STATUS alarms, while the crossover/master board does not report any alarms. Therefore, it is determined that the AUX single board has a communication failure with each line board.
The Ethernet communication of the AUX single board is divided into two VLANs based on the ports, one for the master single board and one for other single boards. When the AUX veneer has a communication port failure with the veneer that is not the main control, there is a phenomenon that all line veneers report COMMUN_FAIL and BD_STATUS alarms, while the main control veneer does not report this alarm. Therefore, it is concluded that the port on which the AUX veneer communicates with other veneers has failed.
Operation Procedure
- After replacing the AUX single board, the alarms of each single board disappear and the fault is eliminated.
